Three Things to Keep a Healthy Mind

Our mind is said to be the most powerful tool we have as humans. Which means a man is nothing without his mind. I've listed 3 very simple things to do to keep a healthy mindset.

  1. Go to bed at the same time every night. Multiple studies show that going to bed at the same time (within 30 minutes of the same time each night, even on the weekends) leads to more and better sleep. And if you’re learning and developing your self in one way or another, your mind uses sleep to consolidate knowledge and expand skills. There are almost certainly health impacts from sleep deprivation that we don't fully understand, so think long and hard before you dismiss this suggestion.

2. Exercise. Get up and move, even if it’s just 10 minutes a day. Here’s another area where research is pretty clear: physical activity is not just good for your body, it’s good for your mind. It’s good for your intellect and your mood. It’s good for you in nearly every way, and even a few minutes is better than nothing. If you already have a routine, good for you—keep doing it. If you don’t, get up off that chair and go for a walk. What specific exercise you do doesn’t really matter (though a blend of cardio and resistance training is probably ideal for most people). Just do it.

3. Eat better. There’s so much contradictory and conflicting diet “wisdom” out there, I won’t try to add to the problem, but, in general, you probably want to be eating less sugar, less processed foods, and a wide range of foods—and probably less (smaller quantity and portion sizes) than you’d naturally be inclined to. Even better, if you can eat with conscious intent to improve yourself on all levels, you might find that surprising aspects of your health begin to snap into place.
